Who I Am
The Prize In The Box
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to let you know who I am and what I am all about. As a little boy, I was the kid that that was less excited about the cool prize in the cereal box, than the savvy manner in which the prize was called out on the front of the box that got me to urge my mom to actually buy the cereal. Sounds far-fetched? Well it's true.
Early Signs
In the third grade, I won a contest in which I wrote a poem expressing the importance of saving our ecology. I was honored to meet Connecticut state representative Nancy Johnson to receive an award for my erstwhile poem about the dangers of pollution.
Let Me Tell You A Yarn
Shortly thereafter, I wrote an ad for Yarn Works of Watertown, CT where I drew a picture of a happy kitten playing with a ball of yarn, expressing in a thought balloon "I love this place!"
A Future Glimpse
My mom recognized my interest in promotions and early interest in creative writing and arranged a visit for me as a high school student to meet her friend's husband, Nick Gugliotti, who served ad agency partner and copywriter for GP&P Marketing in Prospect, CT.
Hitting The Books
From that day, I concentrated on English studies throughout high school and eventually enrolled at Quinnipiac College in Hamden, CT (the only university in the state that offered advertising as a concentration at the time) as a Marketing major to pursue a career in advertising.
Embracing The Real World
Upon graduation, I landed a marketing coordinator position at US Tobacco Company's in-house magazine Heartland USA, where I made enough of an impact to land a rare paid-internship role assisting with ad placement in the company's hunting and fishing publication.
Coming Full Circle
A few months later, I was hired as an entry-level copywriter by the same advertising agency - GP&P Marketing - that my marketing-professional inspiration, Nick Gugliotti, had founded. I have been working there ever since, honing my craft and taking on additional responsibilities as an account manager, which I find equally rewarding.
A Fish To Water
I love the creative side of marketing. And I also genuinely enjoy finding out what my clients are looking for and collaborating with sales personnel, account supervisors, brand managers, creative directors, graphic designers and production assistants to deliver real, tangible results for our clients looking to promote their products and services. To me, there is no better payoff than working together to come up with winning creative that result in quantifiable return on investment for businesses.
Getting It Done
My colleagues and clients see me as a hard-working young man that infuses a "can do" attitude to with a good-natured approach to every objective. It's easy to have fun when you love what you are doing. I take my clients' goal seriously, yet my positive, fun-loving outlook makes the journey towards getting the desired result a pleasurable experience.
Taking Fun Seriously
I am a rabid sports and professional wrestling fan (two arenas infused with leading-edge marketing and promotions) who brings a healthy competitive drive to everything I do. I try to have a good time in everything I do and I believe that winning makes it that much easier to have fun! My pop-culture interests include appreciating all forms of music (ask me about my notorious iPod playlists) and exploring the wonderful world of arts and entertainment. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and son.
Committed to Excellence
I worked at GP&P Marketing (now known as The Worx Group) from 1998-2007, showing my loyalty and commitment towards my employers, coworkers and clients. Currently, I am very pleased to be employed at Adams & Knight, an award-winning integrated marketing agency in Avon, CT, as an interactive specialist. I am career-committed and will do whatever it takes to achieve success. Contact me today to find out what we can achieve as a team!
